How to create a link to a file in a mail?

Hello !

I wonder how do you create a link to a file in a mail. In all Microsoft products if you type \servername\folder\document.doc it’s automatically converted to a link.

With Notes it doesn’t work at all.

Before upgrading to release 6, hotspot worked (even if it was not really user friendly).

Now in D6 if you use an hotspot to \servername\folder\document.doc, it opens a browser with http://\servername\folder\document.doc as address and it doesn’t work.

Any solutions ?

Ps : It’s really difficult to explain to users they can’t even make stuffs Outlook Express can do.

Did you try file://?

Yes … but it doesn’t work if there are spaces in folder names, ex :

file:\srvtest\the folder\document.doc

gives \srvtest\the as link (as on this web page)!

I’ve tried file:"\srvtest\the folder\document.doc

" with same result. If i use ’ instead of " there are no link at all …

Any other idea ?

Subject: So well does MS handle the spaces in the Folder name? I would assume the same as Notes.

Get into your body in the Memo and type some text. Select the text and Create, Hotspot, Link Hotspot and put your file ref in there.
