How to create a link (.dir file) to network driver through domino server

I am doing a project using domino server as the mail server.

I want to create users mailbox file (.nsf file) at a different location

other than c:/lotus/domino/data default directory. According to the

help file, I can create a .dir file and point to the new location (e.g.

K:\mail) in that file, so when I register a new user, that user’s

mailbox file will be created at K:\mail. It works fine when driver K is

physically attached to the domino server. But it doesn’t work when

driver K is a network driver mounted by “net use k: //xxxx” command (my

lotus domino is on windows platform).

Do you guys have any idea?

Thank you

That is, because normally Domino is a service and runs in its own user context, so no mapped network drives. But, make your .dir file and use notepad to put the UNC path into it like \server\share\directory

You must use a directory in the share, the share directly doesn’t work.

And I don’t think, that is a good idea. The performance will probably abysmally slow and from my experience is Notes extremly touchy if a nsf database is on a network drive. I get there sometimes the error message without any other programm affected. And I think Domino will also be touchy.
