Hi all,
We have a situation here in which an email that is replied to that contains one of our users is formatted as follows:
john.smith@abc.com@123
Where John Smith is in the NAB with “john.smith@mcap.com” as his email address and 123 is another domain here meant for external mail.
We were told that by putting in the Internet Address Lookup field, it would fix this and we would not get delivery failures. Can anyone confirm that this is true?
Thanks.
Rick
Subject: How does Internet Address Lookup work?
Dear Rick
Basic rules for finding out the senders/from address for outbound SMTP mail from Notes clients go roughly as follows:
-
Use the value in the Internet Address field of the current location document on the Notes client
-
If this is blank, use the value in the Internet Address field on the users person document.
-
If this is blank, then use the rules in the Global Domain document to construct the e-mail address. By default this will include the Notes Domain and organisation. There is a check box in the global domain document that tells the server whether it is to use the Internet Address field on the person document or not. I would guess that this is ticked as this is only affecting one user?
It sounds like john smith’s location document may not be pointing to the correct mail server (hence the external domain if it is poitning to a server in the external Notes Domain) and also that his e-mail address in the location document may be john.smith@abc.com?
