How do I stop adminp from removing a name in a names field?

Hi,

I have a names field on a form, in a database that has an admin server set the in ACL. The action in the ACL is “Modify All Names Fields”. We want that in case there is a user name change.

However, if a user is terminated, adminp will go into the document and remove the name from the names field as it should. But we want to keep the name in the field. It is a computed when composed field, so I can’t really do any input translation to force it to keep the name, (from a hidden field which does have the name).

Is it possible to set adminp to continue to rename any names in names fields, but leave the name if it is a termination?

or is there any alternative? There is a lot of things tied to this field, so I don’t want to change too much design.

Thank you good Notes community!

Hi

Here is a latent approach to it. Please use one more normal text field to get the value as default value from Names field. This will retain the text and also your problem gets resolved.

Let me know if you require any more information.

Good morning,

I guess you will have to set this in the ACL of the database.

Thank you very much for all the replies. I need to leave the “modify names fields” turned on in the event a current user has a name change.

fyi, this is what I’m going to do…

There is currently another text field ,(non-names) on the form that holds. I’m just going to write a scheduled agent that will look at all docs, and if the names fields is blank, (Adminp has removed the name), then I will get the value from the other text field. Adminp has aready acted on the document so this should not be an issue.
