How do I setup a shared group e-mail address

I have a user who wants to send out a newsletter and wants the following:1. Wants the “from” e-mail address to be from the department as a whole, not any one particular person.

  1. Wants the e-mail address to display their group name and to have it accessible by everyone within their department so that messages can be sent from anyone within their department from that address.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

setup a generic user/mailbox or use a mail-in database.

I’ve setup a mail-in database, but it shows my name as the sender.

Thanks

try sending an e-mail from it. If you set it up properly it will display Sent By: your name but on the recipient’s end it should show the name of the mail-in database and when they reply it should reply to the mail-in database name. If they do a reply to all it will go to the mail-in database name AND the person whose name appears as Sent By. The only way to circumvent this is to create a generic user ID but the sender would have to switch to it before composing an e-mail. Else you’d have to develop your own little custom notes database to function as you desire.

a generic ID is not recommended because you’d be giving it to several people. Someone who uses the ID could send out a hate mail and you’d never know who it was.

Create an ID for the new database and use this when sending mail. Switch IDs etc etc
