Hi,Very often when I have to kill the Notes process in the task manager (because Notes has hung) I then restart Notes and get the error message “An error occured while opening a window”.
The only way I can then start up notes is to re-boot my PC. Is there anythink I can do aviod rebooting and start up notes as normal?

If you are running any application that is accessing Notes shared memory (such as an antivirus program) then NSD detects this and terminates those processes too. In this situation all the other methods will leave you unable to restart Notes without first rebooting.

Try killing the process “tree” rather than just the process. Make sure ntaskldr.exe is killed and any 3rd party add-in executables (such as tmssnap.exe - teamstudio snapper). If it still won’t restart check there isn’t a notes.lck file in the notes programme directory as this can prevent notes from restarting although if you kill the processes as mentioned you shouldn’t need to go looking for the .lck file.

There are also a couple of tools out there to automate the process. Search for ZapNotes (IBM), KillNotes or NotesMedic (not sure if it is OK to recommend it).
