Does any one have any information regarding Domino compatibility with HL7 messaging standards?

Domino does not support HL7 since it is a industry-specific protocol whose definition includes the session layer of the OSI model. You have to write an interface between your Domino server and your local HL7 gateway or client in order to make it work.

We are a business partner who have a Domino application that we market to Health Departments in the US. One of them is asking is Domino is compatible with HL7 standards. I suspect from another response that is may not be possible, but any information on the possibility and techniques would be helpful. Thx for anything you can provide.

They’re just blindly saying “we want every app to talk HL7” because someone up high mandated it 
If you explain to them that Notes is a development environment, they might understand better. It’s not a black box that talks HL7. As Dave Holden mentioned, HL7 is pretty complicated. I looked at implementing it for Notes for a customer years ago, but it’s way too complicated. If you have to do HL7, you should see if you find an HL7 layer that you can talk COM to but you’ll be stuck on a Windows platform for everything…
