Hide when and refresh for web

good evening! for the past couple of weeks i have been working on trying to get our employee application online. being that this application has over 100 fields… i need to break it up into sections. i have about 5 or 6 sections with the last section having the final submit. the problem i am having is with the hide whens on the sections. i have tried using id tags and setting the display from block to none in javascript and each time i hit a combobox that refreshes fields… i get sent all the way back to the 1st section of the app. i then tried using a flag field and set it in section with a continue button, but when i submit the form, all the fields except the last section are blank. can someone please help me figure how i next to seperate this app into sections? below are the methods i have tried.

method 1

fields for section here

fields for section here

button code

document.getElementById(‘A’).style.display=‘none’;

document.getElementById(‘B’).style.display=‘block’;

method 2

hide each section depending on AppStatus field (example: “A” “B” “C”) - starts out as “A”

button code

window.document.forms[0].AppStatus.value=“B”

_doClick(‘$Refresh’, this, ‘_self’, ‘AppStatus’)

I see method 1 is comparitevly easy than method 2. I dont know why your JS code is not working.

Even though what you have written is correct, another alternative is this -

document.all(“A”).style.display = “none”

Make sure that there are no extra hide when formulas written for the fields or text and for this close your lotus designer and then reopen it again. This is generally the problem if you are developing web applications with Domino.

i tried that method and pretty much the same thing happened. it works fine until i get to a notes field (combobox) that has “refresh fields on keyword change”, then it reloads eveything back to my first id tag (A). i tried shutting down notes and designer after i made the change, but still no luck. if i could find a way to refresh the notes hide when formulas besides using “_doClick(‘$Refresh’, this, ‘_self’, ‘AppStatus’)”, then i think it might work. i’m not sure…
