Hi
Background:
I would like to get to know Linux a bit better and therefor bought myself an IBM T41P. I bought and installed SUSE 9.0 and found that a lot of the Laptops functions where not working - i.e. WLAN, Bluetooth etc. I then asked a friend to take a look at it (the Laptop) for me. He installed a couple of programs and, above all, installed wine! He then configured wine to work with the Notes version I had on my Windows D drive (/windows/d/lotus/notes/notes.exe).
I then decided to buy SUSE 9.1 as (apparently) the T41P was fully supported - I formated my linux install and did a clean SUSE install - low and behold, most of the things worked pefectly - god was I happy ;o)
Now here’s the problem - I made some notes when my friend was installing WINE and thought that I had it down pat. I then tried it myself - I cannot get it to work (have been playing with it for 2 solid days now)…
Here is my current installation:
-
install XP on C: (NTFS)
-
install and configure Notes 6.5.2 on D: (FAT32)
-
Install Redhat 9.1
-
Use YAST (YOU) to update my installation to the current packages
-
Install wine from www.winehq.com
-
Run winecfg to set C: and D: to /windows/c and /windows/d
-
Copy mfc42.dll and msvcp60.dll from Windows to ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system
(i also copyied it to: ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 and ~/.wine/drive_c/windows
just to be safe)
-
run notes
cd /windows/d/lotus/notes
wine notes.exe
I then get the Notes Splash Screen and nothing else - in the terminal that I started the I get the error that wine cannot find the files that I previously copied!
I have checked the thread on installing on Linux:
i.e. => have updated the config to not use Explorer and set IM to connect manually.
I have also reinstalled everything (a couple of times actually :o)
Anybody out there who can help a would-be Linux convert ;o)
Thank you for any help given !!!
