I installed Domino Server 7.0.2, Domino Administrator , and Domino Design (Trial Version) on my computer (XP).
My supervisor copied me a sample application POSystem1.nsf. I put it on the Domino installed directory /data.
I used domino adminitrator to open it from File->Database->Open, I have an error “You are not authorized to access that database”.
I used domino designer to open it from File->Database->Open, I have another error "You have insufficient access to perform this operation ".
In the domino administrator, I cannot see the file on Domain->Files. But I can see file such as events4.nsf, admin4.nsf, names.nsf and so on.
Can someone tell me how can I open the file from domino administrator or designer?

Secondly, if he has already added you in the ACL, then you need to make sure that when you login to Notes Administrator, you are using the correct ID file that corresponds to the ID that your supervisor added you in the ACL.

If it is possible to use other ways to open the database? I sent email to my supervisor, and he seemed not know about this.
And when I tried to explain to him, he seemed angry about this. I don’t want to bother him any more?
Do you have any other way to open it?
Or can you recommend any sample application from IBM?
I am just use this sample to become familiar with domino server, lotus script, and domino integration with java. That’s all.

No. That’s the whole point of the ACL… to restrict access to those people who should have it. You can’t really circumvent it. If it is just for testing, you can have someone who HAS MANAGER access to the database add you to the ACL. Other than that, there is no way for you to access it.
If you want other samples, I suggest going to the Sanbox page on this site and looking for things that are of interest.

Are you able to access this database on another machine?Have you been able to access it before?
Are you logging into admin client using your company’s Notes ID file or some other id file?
Are you listed in the database ACL of the application ? If not, ask whoever owns it to add you in the ACL and resend the copy of the app.
In the meantime (if you are already listed in ACL or if the ACL gives sufficient rights to default) goto Admin client try File → Security → Switch ID → pick your company id file and login with your password. It should work …

I never access this database before. Since my supervisor is not working with us. He is in US, and we are in Canada.
I use my own user domino server, administrator client, and designer. So I have my own user id, it is SYSTEM.
So it’s the only way that my supervisor has gives sufficient rights to default, right? It is any other ways to open the database?

Just ask him whether that he has added you in the ACL of the dataase with reader or author or editor access. You need some level of access to be able to open the database.
