Hi Rene,

due to the upcoming EOL of CentOS/RHEL 7, I'm happy to finally see RHEL 9 support in this release! But I'm missing any OSS alternatives to the commercial RHEL. The requirements article only lists CentOS 7, which seems actually died since the successor is basicially a rolling release distribution.

After Red Hat decides to restrict the publicly avaliable packages used for RHEL compatible distributions, they sees have divided into several directions:

Rocky Linux tries to be 1:1 binary/bug compatible to RHEL, where Alma Linux has given up 1:1 compatibility: They still want users being able to run software designed for RHEL on their distribution. But they don't blindly follow Red Hat any more, this means they could fix bugs which were kept in the past until RHEL fixed them.

Why is there no supported alternative for CNX? I think one distribution similiar to RHEL would make most sense, since RHEL is still widespread and it should make less work than supporting a completely different distribution like Debian.

Hi Daniel,

We are running Connections on Alma 9 and it has caused 0 issues, but I agree that the support statement could be a bit more inclusive.

This is too light
