Is there a limit on the amount of characters/data allowed in the Group Name field (the actual field name being ListName) in regards to total lotus notes/domino functionality (security) not just the actual limit for the field which is a text field?

Thanks everyone for your help…I was told that there was a much smaller limit by someone else…I knew about the data limit for the text field but just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something regarding security or some other issue/bug/etc…Thanks again,

If you’re asking how long you can make the group name, there is no limit that I know of other than the standard summary data limits (32k/64k). That said, I’ve never seen a group name longer than say 50 characters, and I wouldn’t want to have one any longer than that either.

There is a limit of 32KB for this field in the Domino Directory . Versions 7.0, 6.5, 6.0, 5.0.

most people want their group names to be as short as possible, not as long as possible. we limit our group names to 35 characters, just our standard limit. but your technical response was already given by the other 2 who responded.
