I want to make specific stationery available to all users on our server. How can I do this?
Do I modify the mail template? How and where? And which template? All our users’ mail databases inherit from iNotes60.ntf, which itself (so it says) inherits from ExtR6Mail – which template I can’t find.
Apologies from a bemused newbie for bemused newbieness.
We are using Domino 6.01 on an IBM iSeries server.
Subject: Global stationery – modify template? Which?
add a new image to the template, make sure to use .gif and not .jpg or the logo won’t print. Give it an alias just like Lotus does, i.e. StdNotesLtr1 for Bouncy Earth. Add the entry to the Calendar Profile form in the DefaultLogo field found on the Letterhead tab.
If you don’t have the ExtR6Mail template then you can only modify what you have, but look for mail6ex.ntf - that’s the actual file name.

I don’t think I made myself sufficiently clear in my initial post. I’m not trying to change the default logo. I’m trying to provide all users with a common entry in their Stationery folder. That is to say, when they go to the Mail → Tools → Stationery folder or use Tools → New Memo - Using Stationery, all users should find this stationery available to them.
The purpose is to make various standard company e-mail forms available and updateable throughout the enterprise.
Thanks for confirming my guess that the template I wanted was mail6ex.ntf – though I’m still mystified by the reference to “ExtR6Mail”.

ExtR6Mail will be the name you see when you go to the database properties and look in the “Database file is a master template” field. I don’t know if a good way to make the stationery show in the Stationery folder. You could just copy the memo form, in designer, and make whatever you want. Then you could make the form available from menus or buttons or wherever you choose. The key is that this would be part of the design, whereas putting it in the folder would not so there wouldn’t be any easy way to place it there or keep it up to date.

Stephen,
I’m not sure that you need to be concerned about modifying the mail6ex.ntf template. All I needed to touch was inotes6.ntf (or maybe it was inotes60.ntf) which is the template everyone at my company uses whether they are iNotes or Notes users (the template accommodates both types).
Jeremy is correct in telling you to add an entry to the DefaultLogo field under the Letterhead tab in the (CalendarProfile) form in the mail template. Don’t be confused by the name “DefaultLogo” – it is a STUPID name and is not limited to the default stationery as it implies. The DefaultLogo field should be named something like “StationeryList” because it is a dialog list with hardcoded values that tell it which image to insert.
There is no need to make a copy of the Memo form and change that. That’s overkill.
I also disagree with Jeremy’s assertion that you need to give your logo a bland, boring alias name like StdNotesLtr1. I would just recommend something without spaces. Example:
Image name when pasted into Shared Resources → Images: XYZ Associates
And its alias name: XYZAssociates
Entry inserted into stationery list in DefaultLogo field:
XYZ Associates|XYZAssociates
Aside from adding the image to Shared Resources and modifying the (CalendarProfile) form, I’ve been told that there is a third place you need to make a change to alter the default background, but I don’t know where that is.

Subject: Technote for custom letterheads
I didn’t have any luck finding it today, but there used to be a technote (#172359) that gave a step-by-step for setting custom letterheads in the R5 mail template. The one for R4 mail was #137371, according to the notes in the R5 technote. I don’t know yet whether there is one for ND6.
Hope that helps,
Patrick
