Full text index for this database is in use

Our hourly full-text index appears to have stopped working …

The error message in notes.log is “Error full text indexing document NT00000000 in database dbname.ft. The full text index for this database is in use. Error full text indexing dbname.nsf: The full text index for this database is in use”.

I assume that creating a new repilica could be my “last resort” option … any other alternative options? Could a server re-boot maybe help?

Hi,

Delete the .FT directory and recreate the index first.

Deleting the FT file and re-creating the index worked. Thanks for the quick (and correct) reply!!!

Also check how long the indexer is taking to do the indexing. If the first index is still running when the second starts that will do it also. This can happen on large Dbs on a busy server

That error also appears if a hard drive is full, quota is used up or silimar occaisionally.
