Hi,
I was having a problem with a db.FTSearch so I tried the query in the Search View bar.
The “word variants” and “fuzzy” options were Unchecked. The database is Full-Text indexed.
I typed into the search view bar ‘FIELD Department equals Marine’ (without 's).
The search brought back “Non-Marine” documents as well.
When I checked on the “word variant” or “fuzzy” option it brought back the same results.
These were the same results as my db.FTSearch.
Any help?

If you think for a moment, you’ll realise that the word “Marine” appears inside the phrase “Non-Marine” - Notes breaks words at punctuation marksThe only workaround I can think of is to search for “Marine” AND NOT “Non-Marine”

It does the same thing for “Executive” and “Executive Services”.I’m using the query: FIELD Department equals Executive and it still brings back all doc with Executive in the Department name.
Any ideas?

Yes, exactly as I said aboveI think you are confusing what the word ‘equals’ means in an FTsearch
It means that the field contains the supplied text.
Again, searching for “Executive” AND NOT “Executive Services” may help
