I’ve inherited a Domino web app where part of the search isn’t working. In my trouble-shooting, I’ve checked the field in the form (both the web and Notes versions) and the field is definitely a Text field containing TEXT or TEXT LISTS data.
However, in the Notes client, when searching by field the only criteria allowed for this field are those used for numbers, e.g., is equal to, is greater than, is less than, etc.
In case the field may have changed sometime in the past, I’ve deleted the index and created a new one to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated. Obviously this one is driving me nuts.

You could write a script to traverse all the docs and check the data type of that field and see if any docs contain it as a numeric value.I had a similar situation w/ a date time field not being interpreted correctly by the FTIndex. The only solution that worked after much pain was creating a local replica, deleting the existing server copy, and creating a new replica copy back to the server and re-creating the FT index.

I think you’ll find that the field definitions are stored in the database unique key table and not in the full text index. A complete cleaning of the database using Full Access Administration to make sure there are no old hidden documents, followed by a copy-style compact should bust the ghosts if there are any. (Creating a new local replica then replacing the server replica does pretty much the same thing by skipping hidden documents, clearing white space and creating new internal tables.)

Gentlemen, I thank you. I’ll give this a shot tomorrow. It’s either a testament to your dedication to us mortals or a comment on our sanity that we’re still doing this at this hour on a Friday night.
Thanks again.
