FT-Index: Memory allocation error - errcode = 3101

After migrating from R5.0.10 to 6.0.1CF1, one of the databases cannot be full text indexed.

The log shows:

Full Text message: Memory allocation error: errcode = 3101

Error full text indexing document NTxxxxx D:\Lotus\Domino\Data\xxx\xxx.nsf (rc=3892) Not enough memory for Full Text Indexing or Search

Sometimes we see additionally

Updating took over 30 minutes for database xxx\xxx.nsf

This database is quite large (approx. 2 GB, 300’000 documents), but it worked fine in R5. This error occurs on both cluster members.

The W2K system has enough OS memory and the drive has several GB free space. The VIEW_REBUILD_DIR also points to the drive with enough free space. The .FT directory was also cleared. We also tried to create the full text index on a 6.0.1CF1 client machine - same error.

We have also tried the KB article #1090296 but the server then produced an NSD dump, so we removed this parameter.

Thank you very much for any help.

Subject: Clear Bug: FT-Index: Memory allocation error - errcode = 3101

When the filename contain umlaut characters, the full text index creation fails. After we renamed the file to a name without any umlaut characters, everything worked as in R5.

I hope IBM will fix this issue !

Doesn’t seem like they have fixed it. We had it in 6.0.2CF1 and CF2, and it’s still here in 6.5.1IF1, english version.

They say it is, but it’s not. I see this error again in 6.5.4 FP1 and since yesterday also on a 6.5.3 server. I opened a call with IBM and supplied them with some debugging info. I am waiting for a resolution.
