Forwarded file corrupted

I noted that when I forward some xls files to other recepients, the file becomes corrupted on arrival. Before I forward the file, I open it and everything is fine. I also tried that if I save the file onto the hard disk first and re-attach the same file to the email for forwarding to other recepients. The file opens correctly at the recepient’s end. Can someone advise me if the problem possibly fall into incorrect client settings or server settings.

Thanks,

Ray

Hi Ray,

I think the problem you’re having is because of the difference between embedding an object and attaching an object.

The best way for you to send a file is to write the message, then choose File/Attach (or click the paperclip) to attach the file you want to send.

If you embed an object it can be corrupted during the conversion to SMTP.

Luke,

Thanks for your advice. However, it is common or realistic to forward the received emails with attachments to other recepients. If the forward feature is inappropriate function to use for this case, could you please advise how to handle it in proper way.

Hi Ray,

Forwarding an email that has attachments should work fine.

The problem might be in one of the following areas:

  • Your location document → mail → ‘format for messages going to internet’

  • Mail preference in your person doc

  • Server-side mail settings (mime, smtp…)
