Forum RSS feed

Thanks IBM Lotus for the forum RSS feeds. I’ve been using them since day one and have just one little suggestion…

Could you split individual forum feeds into two, one for initial posts and the other for responses (this latter one might be considered somewhat analogous to blog comments feeds).

The sheer volume of RSS items coming out of a single feed is overwhelming and although that single, “flat” feed is better than no feed at all, the inclusion of all responses including all of those like “thanks ” makes keeping up very difficult.

Subject: It was added yesterday.

See this post: . Accoring to Thomas the feed does not validate and may not work with certain RSS-readers, but it works ok in Sharpreader.

Particularly the usefullness of the feed. It probably is better to separate the “comments” just as one scans headlines and only reads the articles of interest.

Subject: Great idea!

I with you completely on that suggestion Chris.

I ellaborated a bit more on my blog, pointing back to your entry in hopes that we’ll be able to make more people aware of the suggestion.

Hope it comes to fruition…should be some low-hanging “fruit” I’d think!

Subject: I have what may be a better idea

I’d be happy for any input on this. I came up with what may be an innovative, but simple, approach to this problem that provides a better solution than a separate comments field, or at least I think so. I explain it on my blog under the title: Why doesn’t RSS use a selective poll technology? I’d be happy to see responses either here or there.
