Follow Ups

Currently, if an email is marked for Follow Up, it is listed in the user’s Inbox (or other folder) and in the Follow Up folder. Is there a way to have it appear only in the Follow Up folder, when it is marked for Follow Up?

Subject: Click the “Folder - Remove from Folder” action in the folder (like inbox) where you don’t want to see the document.

I see Actions> Folder Options> Remove from Folder. Is that what you are referring to?

I guess I may not have been clear. When a user adds a Follow Up to an email that is currently in the Inbox, the email then appears in both the Inbox and in Follow Ups. I would like for any email that has a Follow Up assigned to disappear from the Inbox and appear only in Follow Ups, without having to manually delete it.

Thanks, Dave

Understood. It does not automatically do what you are asking. You can remove it from the folder (inbox) using the action I mentioned to you. You are not deleting the email, just removing it from showing in the inbox.

Subject: removing follow ups from inbox

We initially considered adding a checkbox to Preferences, whereby (if checked) the memo would be removed from the Inbox after follow up. Usability tests showed that this confused users. Because Follow Up is a view rather than a folder, our testers didn’t know what to do with the memo once they received the follow up. If they removed the follow up flag, the memo disappeared from the Follow Up view but they couldn’t figure out where they could find it again (e.g., All Documents view). So we decided to leave it in the Inbox so that the user could not only mark it for follow up, but could also put the memo into a folder, if they chose.

In R7, there is a new feature whereby the user can drag the memo from the Inbox into the Follow Up view. (Normally, you cannot drag/drop into a view - in R7 an exception was made for Follow Up.) When it is dragged from Inbox to Follow Up, it is removed from Inbox.
