After I changed the favicon.ico file in the html folder, it worked - but only with the Firefox browser. I noticed Firefox has no problem with e.g. Google, Yahoo or whatever. But the Internet Explorer is not showing any of these.Is this a “security feature” from IE?

I think IE tends to onl;y get the favicon when it’s added as a bookmark, I think firefox etc get it every visit to the page.
Try removing any bookmarks pointing to the site, exit IE and then readd, you may find it adds back then.

okay - after maybe 243 tests - IE is showing the icon only after added to the bookmarks, you were right. but not always, only if you had the code in the webpage linking to the favicon.ico, the same with Google or Yahoo or whatever. For Firefox is enough that the file is on the server. I am using Firefox all the time, but I am VERY sorry that the most customers of us are using IE…
