Extraneous commands in HTML

When advanced users create forms that contain URL links to Notes Databases, the links work fine. However, when these pages are edited, even if the URL strings themselves don’t change, extraneous < font > commands are being inserted randomly into the URL. Deleting and recreating the pages has no effect. I can’t post an example because the code is converted to HTML when I posted it. Anyone else experiencing this?

There is nothing unusual about the forms. The HTML code is being manually typed into rich text fields.

Subject: Extraneous commands in HTML

You are observing this when viewing the document from the web, right?

This sounds like a problem caused by the notes editor’s attempt to color the URL (automatically make it into a hotspot?). It inserts color information into the rich text so that when you look at it in notes the url will stand out.

This confuses the rich text to HTML converter in the web server, which generates the font tags to try to render the color.

This has been fixed in 7.0 and should also be in a future maintenance release of 6.5.

Can you create a hotspot rather than using passthru HTML?

You might also try turning off the client’s “make internet urls into hotspots” user preference. That may have an effect on the problem.
