I’m migrating some users from Exchange 5.5 to R6.02. We’re using a notes-exchange connector to facilitate a co-existent environment until everyone is migrated over. We’re using our Exchange server as the SMTP server.
When I migrate a user using DUS, it doesn’t create the SMTP address for the user correctly. Notes creates the user, migrates the data to the new mail file and creates the correct internet address. But as soon as I run dirsync (to update Exchange via the notes connector), it changes the user’s SMTP address because it sees the original one in the Exchange environment.
I’m also concerned about mail being delivered to Exchange after the migration. What can I do to keep this from happening? I’ve tried “hiding” the exchange mailbox from the exchange address book. I’ve also tried deleting the exchange mailbox right after the migration. (This works, but then I have no backup if I need to remigrate the user for some reason.)
What’s the trick I’m missing? None of the documentation I’ve read seems to deal with these issues.
Thanks in advance for your help!
