Errors accessing 7.0.2 groups from R5 clients

Hi,We’ve been running 7.0.1 in our test environment for many months now and just last week upgraded to 7.0.2 (prior to large corporate upgrade from r5.0.4 /r5.0.12 to 7.0.2 (hopefully).

Our test servers have just been upgraded to 7.0.2 and the domino directory is also 7.0.2 - however if you try and open, add or edit a group in the domino directory from an R5.0.12 and R5.0.4 client you receive this error :

Error loading USE or USELX module: PolicyManagement

you can eventually load the form… however you also get this error when trying to mail to these groups from a memo using the address button…

(running R5.0.12 client xp and 2000, r5 mail file, r7.0.2 directory server- windows 2000 and windows 2003 and AIX)

If you look at the group form in the 7.0.2 pubnames.ntf there is a Use “PolicyManagement” line in the globals section :

Option Public

Use “PolicyManagement”

If you check the 7.0.1 code the USE line is not there! If you remove this line the error stops. However need to know what implications this has if any or was it just a mistake adding this in 7.0.2?

Can recreate this by creating a new database on a 7.0.2 server based on 7.0.2 pubnames.nsf.

then try and open the default groups in there (eg. localdomainservers) from an r5.0.12 client and you get the same error?

We realise R5 is not supported but during the upgrade our servers and directories will be R7 prior to the client upgrades so the r5 clients will be opening 7.0.2 directories.

Anyone else spotted this?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks

Subject: Errors accessing 7.0.2 groups from R5 clients

We have just upgraded our NAB in live to 7.02 after running 7.01 for months in test. We are also seeing this problem and I have raised it with Lotus. I think you get it with any R5 client as we have seen it with 5.0.11 and 5.08.

Susan,

I am a colleague of Steve, who posted the original issue.

We also have logged the called with IBM/Lotus and I know that another UK customer logged the same call. Is this you? I know it has now been escalated to IBM/Lotus Development team.

If you want to contact me directly then by all means please do, my email is carlhipkiss@warwickshire.gov.uk. As it maybe useful as it looks like we are about to attempt similar migrations.

Regards

Carl.

Subject: RE: Errors accessing 7.0.2 groups from R5 clients

Saw the same problem.

I have got around it by changing the Form formula on the Groups view to:

@If(@TextToNumber(@Version) < 169; “(46Group)”;Form)

This changes the version number from 159 to 169 which forces R5 clients to use the hidden (46Group) form instead of the normal Group form.

Presumably the R7.0.2 PolicyManagement script library is using something no longer compatible with R5.0x clients.

Using version 169 is arbitrary but 166 is the value returned with R5.0x clients.
