Error of "Unable to find any path to server

I used the notes client via VPN and try to connect to the notes server.

  1. I can ping the notes server

  2. The firewall for the Notes port is opened

  3. the error msg is “Unable to find any path to server”

What should I do for this?

Thanks,

Subject: With some setups the domino server will have 2 IP Adresses…

Hi,

Our domino server serves the extranet as well as internal customers. The firewall does IP translation.

There are two IP Addresses - an internal one (for office clients)

and

An external one - for the web site and the extranet. (and mail server).

If you’re connecting remotely, but WITHOUT VPN, you would use the external address. For In-the-Office connections and VPN connections, you would use the internal address.

If this is the issue you face, try checking the hosts file

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Open it in notepad and add the line…

203.134.22.43 MYServerName

Probably the internal address since most external DNSes will return an external address.

When you say PING the server, are you doing it via IP or Name? If IP works and Name doesn, the HOSTS file is probably the way to go.

You might want to look at the information you get once connected via VPN and compare it to what you get when you connect to your office LAN. If the information is different, you might want to bring it to your VPN admin attention.

make a Host entry with the Server name (not the heirarchical name). Eg. - if the server name is abc/efg/hij, then the Host entry should be for ABC. This should work. Also, ensure you have a connection doc (if u r trying from a notes client).
