Error launching file DOMINO_DESIGNER_DEV_9.0

I have a win 64 version 7 home premium machine with 8.5.3, running extlib, dojo, everything’s happy. I download the DOMINO_DESIGNER_DEV_9.0_win32_EN.exe, launch it, and boom, down it goes in flames. The first msg was a popup from the download director, it asked if I wanted to launch, I said yep, and it said ‘Error launching file…’ and stopped. I downloaded it again, launched it from exploder, I mean explorer and it ran through the whole install and hung for 5 hours right towards the end. With no choice, I killed it. After looking for damage, so far it removed parts of the old 8.5.3 from various dataspaces because the nsf file association is gone, there’s no desktop nor menu items pointing to 8.5.3, although it looks like it didn’t delete any old data, but I bet all of the eclipse config is gone. Without trying to tear things up any further, I’ve tried to rerun the install, and it won’t even pretend to get started into the install process, it coughs spits, and fumes right from the beginning and does nothing. Next, it’s time to copy off hand full of NSFs on pc, scrap everything and start over. Thank goodness this is only a self-study machine I’m hammering on while trying to get a job, Does anyone know if there are any plans to release a 64bit version and when?

Subject: Two hints:

  1. It seems that no 64bit Notes client will be available, cause 32bit applications do also run on 64bit Operating Systems
  2. MS Windows 7 Home Premium is not a supported platform for the Notes client
