Error changing preferences

When trying to change any preferences (File → Preferences) I get this error message when I try to save the settings.

“Notes error: Field is too large (32K) or View’s column and selection formulas are too large”

Some times even though it gives me the error the change is made, other times the change is not made.

I tried changing the mail template back to Mail R9 but had the exact same symptons.

I uninstalled 8.5.3 completely before doing the clean Notes 9 install. I did save my notes.ini, userid.id, and desktop8.ndk files from my previous install.

I had the same rules and signature for Notes 8.5.3 and did not get that error. Shouldn’t I have been getting the error there also if it was one of these errors?

I deleted all my mail rules and now am no longer getting the message, thanks for the assistance.

If you have a huge number of rules, this could cause the problem. Or, do you have a signature (perhaps an image) that has close to 32,000 bytes? Either of these could cause the error you’re experiencing.
