Error accessing archive information

When user tries to archive to an existing archive database, they get the error message ‘Error accessing archive information’.

Tried deleting Archive profile (local and server) using Lotus Script agent, checked ACLs, rebuilt views, design replace, removed existing archive database - problem still occurs.

Any ideas appreciated

Is the user able to open the Archive DB just by double clicking it or file > database > open then using the browes button??? If the DB is on a share make sure the user has READ / WRITE permissions etc.

I know you have said youhave tried ACL but it might be a good test first off. Make sure enforce consistant ACL is not in the ACL settings of the DB. Then what you might wish to do is move the Archive DB somewhere else… desktop is good due to all users canwrite to the desktop.

Fingers crossed.

Solution

The issue occurs for one of two reasons:

(1) You do not have proper ACL rights to the mail archive database and/or the archive log database. For example, if a user had been renamed, and the archive or log was not updated with the new name, then attempting to archive would produce the error “Signer does not have the required…”.

To resolve the problem, modify the ACL of the archive and/or log databases to include the user’s new name. Additionally, be sure that the correct version of the user’s name is noted as the Owner of the mail file and that they have Delete access rights in the ACL.

(2) You do not have Delete rights in the ACL of your mail file.

For Notes 5.x, this issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# TBAE5F63AD; however, it was found that Notes was working as designed.

Under Notes 6.x this issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# RCFE5YQW2B. An update to the SPR has been made to note that the expected error was not returned in the case where the Owner field had not been set (and the Calendar Profile did not exist) and the user attempting to archive documents did not have Delete rights.

The mail archive functionality requires that users archiving documents have Delete rights in the ACL of the database. It is also intended functionality that users are listed as the Owner of their mail file (Tools → Preferences).
