Hi,I am trying to encrypt password field value using public key of users. Something has gone wrong ,encription is not working. This is what I have done,
-
Created a computed, names field (allow multiple values) “PublicEncryptionKeys” and populates user names to this field. The username is populated depending on the user selection .
-
Created a field of Type Password.
After saving the document I checked the document properties. “PublicEncryptionKeys” field contains user names. Then I Switch to a UserID which don’t have access to the password field. But it seems that the field have not been encrypted and all the ID’s are able to see the password field values using document properties optiion. Any Idea about this problem.
Thanks In Advance
Anil

Dear Anil
You can only use the Public key to encrypt documents that are MAILED. In other words, if you have a document and you use @mailsend without arguements (or you use script to send the document), you can add a field called Encrypt with a value of “1”; any fields that have encryption enabled will then be encrypted with the public key.
Password fields aren’t usually encrypted (see the Internet password field on the person document in names.nsf). Stick this in the inputtranslation event on the password field : @Password(Password). Look in the help file for @HashPassword and @verifyPassword.
The computed, names field PublicEncryptionKeys is irrelevant I think.

Melissa. Thanks for your response. I saw some article in Domino power website “http://www.dominopower.com/issues/issue199910/encryption001.html” , i was trying to use same concept for my work . They were controlling encryption using PublicEncryptionKeys.

Ummmm… this is just flat WRONG. You can use the PublicEncryptionKeys field on any document. There’s just a bit of a hack necessary to make it work.
Anil, search this forum for my name and “PublicEncryptionKeys” I have a complete set of instructions that I put here a few months ago.
