I have an database full of documents that contain a rich text field. In the rich text field of each documents is an embedded object (Lotus 123 files, Excel files, Word documents, etc). In Notes version 4.6, when I open the document, all the fields display and the embedded object displays.
However, with a version 6 client, when I open the document, all I get is a gray window - I still have the tab at the top like on other Notes documents and everything else looks OK, except where I should see the document fields, is just a plain gray document. However, if I open the document in edit-mode using the Edit Document button from the view (or doing a CTRL-E), the document opens normally and I see the fields at the top and the embedded object.
Once I open the document and the gray screen displays, I cannot then put it into edit mode to display it. The only way it works is if I open it initially in edit mode.
This is going to be a problem for those users who are readers of the database - they cannot put it into edit mode to see it and I don’t want them to have editor or author capabilities. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas on what has gone wrong? Can I fix it? Or is it a bug? A version problem?
The form is really very simple with just a few text fields and the rich text field.
