I have a customer who as part of their ‘corporate image’ requires their web pages to use a non standard - purchased font. How can I embed the font so that pages and forms are displayed correctly. The web server is currently running 6.5 but will be going to 7x in the next month.

A well known technique is using Flash fonts wit sIFR: http://novemberborn.net/sifr3 but this is only meant for titles and real short pieces of text.If they don’t agree that there is something like web standards and common fonts to be taken into account when working for the web, a Flash website is the only real way to go.
But I think you should persuade them and explain why it is like it is on the web…
