My company is looking to implement email encryption for outgoing external emails. The requirement is not to make everything go out as an encrypted email, but to allow that functionality to be available for use.
I was hoping that some of our readers might take a few minutes and give me some ideas as to what other companies are doing with their own encryption methods, pros/cons, etc.
It seems that there are a whole list of possibilities.
My company also wants me to implement encryption, but for all outgoing messages to non-Notes users as well. From what I understand about Notes encryption, it only works with Notes.
Does anyone use third party software or appliances to enable encryption across multiple platforms?
I have found a few out there, but would like some suggestions if possible.
As suggested, you can use the Lotus Domino Encryption but if you are sending SMTP mail, (ie to outside customers), they may not want to accept your cert.
On the second hand, Verising works very well on a user per user basis (Make sure they send encrypted)
Other places uses Voltage for single encrypted mail (you need to add a trigger word in the body of the message) or appliances (no recommendation here but Proofpoint does it) that do TLS between locations (ie: if all the mail to be sent from company A to company B has to be encrypted, then use TLS.)…
TLS will not encrypt the message. (it will be unencrypted on both sending and receiving servers) but it will encrypt the road.
Basically, there is no one solution here. You need to have more than one to respond to needs.
