Email address not inserted in new memo

After an upgrade from Domino 5.0.9a to 6.5.4 and Notes from 5.0.9a to 7.0.2 we now have an address book database that inconsistently does not insert mail addresses into the fields of a new memo.

The database is listed in the DA.nsf and appears in the Choose Address pulldown menu of the @Command([mailAddress]) dialog.

However, some of the contact documents when selected just insert a space character in the To: field of the new memo and some of the contact documents insert the email address correctly.

I have run fixup and compacted the database but there is no change. Any ideas?

I would compare the contact documents that insert a space to the contact documents that insert the email address correctly. Perhaps there is a difference between them, such as a field which is filled out in the ones that work and not filled out in the broken ones.
