Good afternoon,
I am planning a Windows Server 2003 domain rename on a domain containing Domino 6.5. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this task and was willing to share their experiences with the effects it might have on the functionality of Domino.
Thanks,
John

Hi John,When you rename your Windows domain and the FQHN of the server that Domino sits on changes to incorporate that new domain name Domino will be affected. The four places that I know of where Domino takes the FQHN into account are:
-
the “Fully Qualified Host Name” field in the Server Document (Basics Tab)
-
the “Net Address” column in the Server Document (Ports Tab)
-
The “Host Name” field in the Server Document (Internet Protocols > HTTP tabs) if you are binding a Host name to an address.
-
In the notes.ini: “LDAPSERVER=” and “LDAPSERVERSSL=” lines.
You may want to make these changes on a test server before pushing the changes out to a production environment. Basically, as far as Domino goes anywhere where the FQHN is listed will need to be changed. Hope this helps.

If the Windows domain rename does not impact DNS, then Domino should be agnostic with respect to the change.
