Editing attachment - old version is maintained instead of new version

I have a database with Excel documents stored inside Notes documents, in a Rich Text field.

With my Notes 6.0 client and Excel 2000, I can right-click the attachment in the Notes document and select “EDIT”. The Notes document goes into Edit mode and then the attachment opens in Excel. If I make a change, save the Excel file, save the Notes document and exit and then go back in, the attachment contains the changes.

Two people who have Office 2002 have tried the same steps but when they go back into the attachment, the original attachment is there. If they look at the attachment before “saving and closing” the Notes document, the changes are present in the rich text field attachment.

Any ideas what is wrong? Anyone seen this? Can anyone reproduce / refute this?

Thanks

Terry

Are they allowed to edit the Notes document? If they are not allowable editors, then changes they make to the attachment can’t be saved to the document. If they are allowavble editors, do they in fact click “Yes” when asked if they want to save the changes they made? (They may assume that since they “didn’t edit the Notes document, just the attachment” that the save options prompt wasn’t for them.)

We have a similar problem.

I haven’t got to the bottom of it yet, but it seems to occur less frequently in Notes 6.0.3 than 6.0.2 CF2
