IBM has created a disaster with Eclipse 8.5.1
This product is slower than any piece of software I have ever used.
I have been working with Lotus Notes since version 4.5 and the 8.5.1 version needs to be trashed!
Workspace Icons no longer remain on the workspace, simply disappear and I have to reopen the database each time.
Controls don’t respond to mouse clicks and controls simply fail to function. The save control in designer fails 50% of the time and I have to close my form to get the change to save.
And I simply can’t begin to describe how slow it is. I have had to reboot my computer 3 time today to get Lotus Notes to work.

8.5.2 seems noticeably faster to me.

I’m not sure what you mean by “workspace” since there’s nothing called that in Designer. If you mean the navigation view, there’s a bug (corrected in 8.5.2) where databases would disappear from there if you have them open in Designer and switch to an ID that doesn’t have access to the database. You can get around this by closing Designer before you switch IDs.

Again I’m not certain I understand you. What is the “save control”?
I haven’t seen this in Designer 8.5.1 when I was using it for development. I do know there are contexts where Ctrl+S doesn’t work (when a properties infobox has focus for instance), but this is not new to 8.5.1.

I’m not sure why rebooting would help, unless there’s something else going on with your computer that’s taking up resources. If you use the nsd -k command from the command window in the Notes program directory, that should clean up any Notes processes that are cluttering things up. But Notes shouldn’t start up while these are running anyway, so I don’t see why restarting should make Designer any faster.
