Can someone confirm how the ‘newpage’ attribute of pardef should be applied.

Example:

Is the newpage applied by XSLT when it processes the pardef or is the newpage applied for each ‘par def’ with the same id that is processed?

The Domino help documentation advises styling properties from the pardef are applied to the ‘par def’ but I’m not quite sure about the ‘newpage’ attribute.
