Duplicated values when reply or forward email

The finding issue is only occur in iOS, no such issue in Android.

Now I am using iOS 17.1.1 and HCL Verse Build: 12.0.21.2023091821, when I forward / reply email, there have 2 symptoms:

1 - there are 2 "Date" as below (I removed all of the contents and remain the questioned items):

2 - once forward the email, some of the recipients will also display in the original email.

Original email:

After forward:

Just seems like bug, please kindly advise.

The reply/forward behavior of inserting the "On <current date/time> <author of mail being replied to/forward> is by design. Agreed that this is different than Verse Android. These are different code bases with different origin stories so not surprising that they don't always behave the same way. I do not consider this a bug.

For #2, can you clarify what you mean? Certainly Verse iOS should not be adding recipients (ex: new user being forwarded to) to the original mail. We have not been able to recreate this issue.

Thanks for reply.

For #2, here is the sample, when I forward the email with Cc recipient, it will display in the original message

but there has only one recipient in the original email:

That will be confused by the recipient that why they did not receive the original email.

Ralf,

Thank you for the extra detail on the reply/forward scenario. That behavior is certainly not expected and does seem like a bug. We are working to try and recreate. My quick attempt did not recreate it. It would be helpful if you could go ahead and open a case with HCL Support.

I just opened a case and number is CS0431529.

This scenario is reported by our colleague with his iPhone, and I can easy to recreate just forward the email with Cc recipient.

(no issue if just forward without Cc recipient)

Just received HCL support feedback, we do not have HCL Customer Number..

Seems I only can request in here..

Ralf,

That's unfortunate. Can you provide details on your Traveler server and Domino levels in case that is key to the recreate?

Hi Curtis,

I am using Windows Server 2012R2 and Domino 9.0.1FP8 HF172.

What type of information do you need more? thank you.

Ralf,

I am specifically interested in the Traveler version. Starting with Traveler 12.0.0, the Verse Mobile clients use Smart Forward/Reply when forwarding/replying. With that processing (described here: https://help.hcl-software.com/traveler/12.0.0/trav_smart_foward_reply.html), the original content is not modified by the client. This certainly contradicts your experience.

Hi Curtis,

Here is my information when checking my Verse Mobile Client:

Is that the correct information you need? thank you for your comment.

However, it seems this problem is just occurred recently..

Ralf,

That is helpful. Your traveler server is a very old version: 9.0.1.21 which is more than 5 years old. This explains why we don't see this in the lab. With that traveler version, when you reply/forward, it is the client that is constructing the entire email. In later versions (starting with 12.0), the client is only constructing the reply or forward message and the server handles appending this to the original mail before it is sent on. This is what is called SmartForward/SmartReply.

We'll see if we can recreate. However, I certainly encourage your admin to plan on upgrading Traveler (and eventually Domino). Domino/Traveler 9.0.1.x and 10.0.x go out of support in June 2024.

Hi Curtis,

Thank you for your reply, and I hope you would recreate the symptoms as I described.. :(

Also, according to the information for the hyperlink you provided about SFSR, there has no such setting (NTS_SFSR_SUPPORT) in my Traveler notes.ini.. quite confuse for my current condition..

Ralf,

NTS_SFSR_SUPPORT does not exist in your version of Traveler (9.0.1.21)

Ralf,

I have been able to reproduce the issue. We also have received a customer report as well. It appears the server version doesn't matter (or smart forward/smart reply enabled or not). So stay tuned. Thanks for reporting the issue.

Hi Curtis,

Thank you for your information, so the issue maybe related to mobile HCL Verse?

Ralf,

Yes, the issue appears to be with HCL Verse for iOS. The development team is working on isolating/fixing the issue.

Fix to the subject issue will be part of the upcoming 12.0.22 release of HCL Verse for iOS.

Hi Curtis,

Appreciate for your update, and I will test again once published.

HCL Verse for iOS 12.0.22 has been released. It is staged which means that Apple throttles the automatic notification of the update being available. However, if you check the app store manually, you should see that its available to be downloaded/upgraded.

Fix list is updated : https://support.hcl-software.com/csm?id=kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0036077 which includes the link to the associated defect article for the issue reported in this thread (KB0108833)

Thanks again for reporting the issue.
