Dropdown unavailable in Access to planning

This is a new one on all 3 administrators here. In a user’s mail file he selects Tools → Preferences → Access & Delegation → Access to planning and switches the radio button to select a user group from the NAB, at this point the field box is available, but there is no drop down button at the end.

The left/right arrows at the tabbed top have also gone, and the instructions in the subform are cut short at the end of the line and cannot be read.

Have tried the usual fixup/compact/updall sequences; have tried refresh and replacement of template; created a new copy of nsf file, but all to no avail. Even completely stripping the design and replacing with a totally different template before returning to mail template hasn’t worked either.

It’s not a client interface thing as my mail file is just fine and the dropdown arrow is there as are the scroll left/right arrows. But as soon as I open his mail file in my client the selection from the NAB in this section is unavailable.

Other mail files on the same server are not suffering this problem either. It’s a wierd one that none of us have seen before and any assistance would be much appreciated.

To rule out a local issue, what happens when you open a copy of the mailfile on your machine? For this you need to make an exact copy of the mailfile and save that copy on your machine. So do not use a replica on the server. And what happens when you do the opposite with your mailfile on the users machine.

You might have to have the users ID-file and your ID-file at hand for this test.

Subject: Dropdown unavailable - Local copy idea

I’ve made a local replica and local copy on my machine, both with the same issue using both his ID and my ID. I have yet to try my mail file through his machine, but will try that today. Hadn’t thought of that one, thank you.

Finally got back to the guy, and maybe what I did to his mail file finally took effect. No problem there any more. Bit bizarre that the actions took a couple of days. Maybe the cache on the server had something to do with it. Any hoo, it’s fine now.
