Notes Client: 8.5.3Domino Server: none
OS: Windows 7 x64
Hello,
SCENARIO: in the CRM-Software we develop, we have a drop area, so that different mail files (.msg, .eml) can be dropped there to be imported.
As the LotusNotes Client 8.5.3 feature list says it’s capable of “When Drag & Drop save as .eml file” we want to support and be compatible with LotusNotes (as one of our customers requested it).
We configured Notes to use a plain vanilla external POP account to receive mails and SMTP to send mails.
PROBLEM: When dragging an email from the account’s inbox and dropping it onto the desktop then the resulting file format IS NOT “.eml” but instead it is a “.url” format.
This is an example of what it’s content looks like:
[InternetShortcut]
URL=notes:///C1257A920037D6DB/4B75A35B5D1FE7DE482572F5002B516C/4D3A9C5D266BAB8DC1257A920035B9BB
Opening this file starts the Notes Client Software and jumps to the regarding email.
BUT: (weird thing) when you drag out of the “Sent” folder, only then (as the feature list claims) the file’s format is “.eml” and actually contains the email.
Any official statement would be appreciated if that is a bug (and if it will be fixed) or if this behaviour is by design.
regards
Andreas
