Drag and drop attachment from email to desktop fails

We have had an issue reprted with the 8.5.1 deployment that we have been able to reproduce consistantly. A user receives an email with an attachment and attempts to drag and drop that attachment to thier Windows desktop. The lightening bolt in the lower left corner of the Notes client shows activity but never copies the file. You can right click and save to the desktop successfully. It also appears to be somehow related to the size of the file. Small files can be dragged and dropped. A 13MB PDF failed. I don’t know exactly where the threshold is, but somewhere around 10MB seems to be the “cutoff” so to speak.

The user that reported this, claims that it worked flawlessly on the 8.0.1 client and prior. This is running the R8.5.1 Standard client on a WinNT machine. Anybody else encounter this?

Subject: yes and no

just tested it. initially I had the same issue but noticed something strange so I tried it again. When you first click the file and drag your mouse to the desktop area you will notice your cursor will flicker. If you release your mouse button while the cursor is still flickering the file copy cancels but if you wait for the cursor to stop flickering (took about 10 seconds for a 15MB file) then the file copy works fine.

Subject: Regarding Yes and No

Thanks Paul…your absolutely right. After letting the “flicker” stop the file was copied correctly. I guess patience truely is a virtue in this case.

thanks again…
