Dr. Watson after Server-Upgrade to 6.0.1CF1 on Clients 5.0.1 - ndyncfg.exe

Hello Guys,

we noticed a very strange “problem”.

Yesterday we upgraded one of our Domino Servers from 5.0.1 to 6.0.1CF1 - without any problems.

This morning - when users start Lotus Notes (5.0.1 on WinNT and Win2K), 8 from 10 get a Dr. Watson Window, which refer to ndyncfg.exe. This message disappears sometimes by itselves or the users can click “Ok”. They can work with Lotus Notes without any problems. Also - if the close Lotus Notes and restart it, Dr. Watson no longer appears with that message. The same, if the workstation is completely rebooted.

It’s not a big issue apparently, but I’d be very interested in finding out, why that situation happens.

We upgraded lots of Domino Servers to 6.0.1CF1 from different R5-Versions. On most locations we use at least 5.0.7a Client-Version - that was the only location with 5.0.1. But we never had that issue before …

Many thanks for your feedback!

Best Regards,

Dani

Hi there,

I have the same problem as described above.

Currently our server is 6.0.1CF2, and I´ve got the problem with Notes Clients 5.0.10 on Windows XP.

When some users log in, they get an application fault error that says: “ndyncfg.exe causd an error and must be closed”.

When the user logs on for a second time all works pretty fine.

Did you solve the problem you reported?

Anyone else any idea?

Regards

Martin

I had the same problem with a user ( R5 client on 6.5.1 server) and in my case it was corrupted Desktop5.dsk. Had to reinstall Notes to the brand new Notes directory, not overide the existing one. It worked.
