Double items in Inbox

Hi there,

I have a client that has this weird problem with Notes. Sometimes, randomly, a mail that has gone through normally decides to appear twice in the inbox after some random time(Same, subject, time, date etc). This double email will then disappear after notes is closed and reopened again. I couldn’t reproduce the issue, but it happens at least once daily for sure.

Tried refreshing the template, rebuilding the inbox views, fixup and compaction on the mail file but to no avail.

Notes client is 8.5.1 FP1 with latest template, and the Domino server is 8.5.1 FP1 aswell.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Subject: Tried creating new index

Thanks for the replies.

I tried deleting the index and created a new one, will see how it goes from there. As for the mail ID, I’ll ask the client to alert me if this happens again so I can check the IDs.

Subject: Still occuring

The problem is still occuring even after deleting and recreating the indexes.

Any other possible solutions are welcome

Subject: Corrupt index possibly?

We’ve had this problem before in one of our non-mail databases where there appears to be a double up in documents. If you compare the duplicate documents, do they have the same Notes ID?

If so, it sound like what we had where it was a corrupt index. Delete the index and create a fresh one, that may fix it.

Subject: I’ve personally observed this…

I cannot reproduce it, but have seen this happen in my own inbox on more than one occasion. I don’t think it’s anything to do with the client, though - I think it’s something happening on the server side since the mail documents had different unique ID’s.

I’m sure this isn’t terribly helpful, but at least you know you’re not the only person who’s observed this behavior. In fact, it happened to me this morning - I received identical emails several minutes apart. I verified that the sender had only sent it one time, and that none of the other recipients received it more than once. It’s not a big deal, and I’m certainly not going to spend a lot of time chasing it down, but it’s definitely something you notice.
