"Don't Maintain Unread Marks" setting causing categorized views to remain expanded

We have a database where we recently checked the database setting “Do Not Maintain Unread Marks” in order to improve performance of the database. However, after making this change, any categorized views will not collapse when displayed in a plick list.

However, when the views are opened from the “View>Goto…” menu, the views will collapse just fine.

The problem is that the views being shown in the pick list need to be collapsed so that the user can navigate to the appropriate category. The catgory that they select then updates an embedded view in the page that shows the single category selected.

I have searched this forum and noticed other people have experienced the similar issues, but I was uable to find a solution to this other than going back and maintaining unread marks.

Is that the only solution to this problem? Accroding to “Notes Performance 101”, maintaining unread marks should be avoided if they are not necessary. Our database is a high volume / high traffic system and performance needs to be optimal.

Is this a bug with this database setting? Has it been resolved with a later version of Notes?

Our servers are v7.02 and most clients are v6.52 with some clients using v6.56.

Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
