Domino with LDAP

Greetings, all!

I am looking for a way to use LDAP as user-database for Notes. I heard that Domino uses an internal ldap-client for its own users, so theoreticaly it should be easy to setup - just config it to use an external ldap-server. Ofcourse, the external server has to have the correct profiles for users or maybe notes uses some defaults for the settings it doesn’t find in the ldap-server? The other way (which I really don’t want to do) is to write an agent that connects to the ldap and register that agent with domino-server in some smart-way.

Is there any way to do the above easily? Any other way to connect domino to ldap?

Best regards,

Pavel

Do a search in Domino Admin Help for “Directory Assistance”.

Subject: Domino with LDAP - stuck

Allright, I’ve created the directory assistance database and setup the server to use it. But I’m stuck on creating the directory assistance document. In the help, it says that I must open configuration for the server and then in the left-pane choose “Directory - Directory Assistance”. But I don’t have that choice! Under Directory there’s only “Directory Servers”, “LDAP” and “Directory Cataloger”. Under Directory Servers I see my server and it has Directory Assistance Database name setup to what I called it when I created it.

What do I do now?

Best regards,

Pavel
