Domino Web access

HelloCan anyone help with the follwing. We are trying to set up inotes on a machine but keep receiving error message “The installation of Domino Web Access 8 has been blocked or declined by the user”

We have succesfully set up inotes on other machines ok but it will not work on this one client. Not sure if it’s something to do with Active X as not getting the prompt to allow the installtion of the web access 8.0 control. Have tried lots of different settings in IE but still no joy.

Weirdly I have a mail file using 8.5 template that works fine, the web access control for 8.5 prompts and installs ok, jsut can’t get 8.0 to work.

Any ideas appreciated

Thanks

Subject: Re: DWA Error

Hi Lee,
That sounds like the Browser is blocking the download of the DWA 8 Control File. One thing you could try (as I have seen it to work) is when the user is prompted to log in, have them type in their User Name and Password, but when they Click “OK” to log in, have them Hold “Ctrl”. This often disables pop-up blockers and such and allows for the Download prompt to show. Then, you can install the ActiveX Control file without issue.

Or, if that doesn’t work, as a workaround you can use Mozilla Firefox since Firefox does not require the use of ActiveX.

I hope this information helps Lee! Feel free to respond back with any questions you may have as I do try to check back often.

Subject: Domino 8 web access control

Hi BobThanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately I’m unable to use firefox, corporate policy here is IE only. I tried the holding ctrl option but that didn’t work either (the pop up blocker was turned off anyway)

Any other suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Subject: Re: DWA 8 Control

Hi Lee,

Just to confirm, I would verify that this user can log into DWA on another machine without issue.

Oddly enough, I found a Technote that outlines this issue occurring in DWA 7 as well:

Lotus Software Knowledge Base Document

Title: Prompt: ‘Installation of Domino Web Access 7 Control has been blocked by the user. Do you want to use subsequent Domino Web Access pages?’
Doc #: 1228480
URL: http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=899&uid=swg21228480

It is a rather strange issue. If you try to log into DWA on the User’s PC, I assume the same issue happens - is this correct?

I don’t know that it would work, but perhaps try taking the DWA 8 Control File from another user’s Machine and moving it to this user’s Machine. These Control Files can be found in the “C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files” folder.

I hope this helps Lee!

Subject: DWA 8 web access

Hi BobThanks for the link. I can see what the problem is now. The DWA8W.cab file is missing from our domino\html directory. I need to copy it back in there I guess. Just need to find it now!

Thanks for your help on this one, much appreciated.
