Domino Web Access failure and Windows XPSP2

Has anyone tested DWA 6.5.1 in a Windows XPSP2 environment and had success? Were running WinXPSP2 (XP 2600.xpsp2_rc1.040311-2315) on some end user machines and in each instance DWA fails. It seems as though SP2 upgrades IE6 to v6.0.2900.2096 SP2 and causes DWA InBoxes to fail, even if we turn off the built-in popup blocker, clear cookies, offline files, history and lower security levels. Here’s the error:

Status Bar reads, “Retrieving records…” and a few seconds later a popup, “Error retrieving data. Click the browser’s Refresh button to reload the page.” appears.

This problem happens on multiple machines, both in the corporate LAN on Dell clients and at home on an IBM clone machine. Users running XP or XP SP1 have no problems w/ DWA.

This error has been submitted to Microsoft Beta testing as an error, but knowing how M$ loves IBM products I doubt I’ll see a reply.

Any help/411 would be great.

Some things to try to see if they resolve the issue:

  1. Disable GZIP at the server via iNotes_WA_Gzip_Disable=1. Restart server. Clear client browser cache and try again.

  2. Disable the “Character set in header” setting on the Server document within the Domino Web Engine tab within the Character Set section

  3. Turn off (Remove) any custom Web-site rules that override the Cache-control HTTP response header which you might have in effect for URLs to your mail file.

I found some fixes, which the very 1st one worked for me. Good luck…

  1. In IE uncheck “do not save encrypted pages to disk”

  2. On DWA server in notes.ini change iNotes_WA_GZIP_Disable=1 and restart Domino

Disable “Character set in header” on server document within the “Domino web engine” tab within the “character set” section.

  1. Delete the IE iNotes object.

  2. Enable Sun JVM

  3. Upgrade to 6.5.1 which fixes the issue in forms5.nsf

  4. download and install M$ KBID 837251

  5. iNotes6.ntf has known errors. use inotes5.ntf instead.

  6. Install M$ MSXML 4.0 SP2

Subject: 1 DWA -w- “Error Encountered Retrieving…Please Refresh” and all others work (on same machine)!

I have read all the postings… some great solutions. The one thing I missed was whether some people can access their email (web access) while others cannot AND on same machine. Here’s our issue… I can access my email (Domino Web Access) + others w/o problems but cannot access 1 person’s. This is all on the same machine. All the solutions call for replacing MSXML, changing IE settings, etc… This cannot be the problem if other Domino Web Access inboxes can be accessed 100% and on the same machine. Any thoughts… since this seems to be Db specific and not OS/machine-based? Also, I can access the calendar, sent, to dos, etc… but cannot access inbox or all docs. Thanks team…

note: This is even more interesting! I can access the inbox using Netscape 7.2! I am just baffled at how it could be IE since other inotes6-based Dbs can be accessed fine on the same machine.
