Domino to index non-domino file system

Can domino’s domain indexing function or the database catalog function be used to index files on another, non-domino server? We have a non-Domino file system on a Windows server, and would like to index them with a domino server on an iSeries. Is this feasible? Would it work if the domino indexing server was on a another Windows server?

Our domino is at release 6.0.2.cf1
