Looking at Notes 12.0.1 documentation, I came across a document named "How do I control spam and other junk mail?" and noticed near the bottom a section titled "Use Spam Protection". The section directs the user to click "Spam Protection" in the mail navigation pane and states that "if you do not see the Spam Protection options in the left pane of your mail, then your organization does not use this service."
I have never seen or heard of a Domino-based service named "Spam Protection" and I'm wondering what this document refers to. I can't find any reference to "Spam Protection" anywhere else in Notes/Domino documentation.
Does anyone know what this Help document is referring to?
Hi, Rob, there was solution Lotus Protector, but it was deprecated after HCL acquired product from IBM. All existing customers been provided licence of very good solution Proof Point. So this is now part of history
Lotus Protector! Ah, yes, I remember it well.
Note to HCL: Maybe update your documentation?
Thanks, Vlad.
Hello Rob,
We worked with the documentation team. Now the product documentation of 12.0.1 is updated. Please check the below link for Domino 12.0.1.

The information on Lotus Protector (Use Spam Protection) has been removed.

Use Spam Protection
Procedure
In the left panel of your mail, click Spam Protection to see a list of senders that your organization blocks, add your own blocked senders, or choose to receive mail from some company-blocked senders.
Note: If you do not see the Spam Protection option in the left pane of your mail (with Folders and Views), then your organization does not use this service.

Thank you and sorry for the inconvenience.

Also of note... while IBM had the "Lotus Protector" product, it was actually a rebranded, customized, (and outdated) version of Symantec Messaging Gateway which is still an actively developed product. So from another perspective, it is still available. I still use it with my Domino server internally and am a reseller.
I would recommend SpamSentinel, this works with the client very well
