Domino on XP

Ok, before I’m jumped on about this, I know XP is NOT a server, it’s only a client, and that Domino is NOT designed to run on it…that said I think there are probably a few legitimate reasons I might need to do it all the same. Demos come to mind. Client site demos, or even local development and testing while on travel. Yes, I realize I could run VM’s etc. I am NOT talking about production or even anything long term, but it seems that for the purposes stated Domino should install on XP. I have been able to do this in the past, though I tried today for a while with 7.0.2 and was not able to get past the initial JVM installation. Is there a way to do this with 7.x like there was with 6.5.x? Thanks…

Hi

Only problem I have had is with server certificates (https). You may need to change some rights to the certificate files in XP. Just search this forum and you will find the answers for this if needed.

Must just be that particular laptop, I tried it on another laptop and the install went fine. On the other one the initial install shield piece would die with the following message:

Launch script error: Invalid Function Name ( path of installation extraction)

I know that I have run Domino 7.0 on XP in the past. Have you verified the JVM requirements?

No, I haven’t and I bet that’s it. I’ll check and post back if that works. Perhaps I was a bit hasty in my whining!

I run my network at home with Domio and Xp…4 servers…no problems really…
